Purpose of the journal:
To publish original scientific research results on current issues in the field of geography and sustainable development, to promote international scientific cooperation, to foster the development of interdisciplinary research, to popularize geographical knowledge, and to encourage its practical application.

Scope:
The journal publishes full-text articles, reviews, and reports presenting original research results in the following areas of geography:

  • Physical Geography
  • Cartography
  • Socio-Economic and Political Geography
  • Geoecology
  • Methods of Teaching Geography

The journal is peer-reviewed. All issues are open access and freely available to all readers.

Languages of publication: English, Kazakh and Russian.

Publication frequency: Quarterly, four times a year.
Issue No. 1 – December 30, Issue No. 2 – March 30, Issue No. 3 – June 30, Issue No. 4 – September 30.

Types of publications:

  • Reviews (up to 12–14 pages)
  • Original research papers (up to 10 pages)
  • Short communications (5–6 pages)
  • Memorial articles dedicated to leading scientists of Kazakhstan

The journal does not publish:

  • Materials and articles that do not correspond to the journal’s scope;
  • Materials previously published by the authors in other editions;
  • Papers not formatted according to the journal’s technical requirements;
  • Materials containing uncorrectable repetitions, spelling, mathematical, or other errors, as well as statements or hypotheses directly contradicting established scientific facts.

Scientific works are published regardless of the authors’ citizenship or institutional affiliation.
Article selection is based on a double-blind peer review process.

Guidelines for Authors
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ONLINE SUBMISSION

Articles for the “Geography and Sustainable Development” journal series are accepted in Kazakh, Russian, and English in the field of geography, covering the results of fundamental and applied research in the natural and humanitarian sciences.

Submission deadlines:

  • Issue No. 1 – by September 15 of the previous year
  • Issue No. 2 – by December 15
  • Issue No. 3 – by March 15
  • Issue No. 4 – by June 15

The review and evaluation period for submitted manuscripts is 60 working days.

Only materials corresponding to the scientific profile of the journal are accepted for publication. They must be relevant, original, and possess both scientific and practical significance.
